Distribution of clothes to Children

  • Some of the most useful items for the needy are clothes and footwear.
  • In our homes, we have clothes that do not fit us anymore. As our babies and children grow up, they outgrow their clothes. So we collect all those clothes and distributes to the needy people.
  • Many times if the cloths are not in a good condition then the collected clothes are mended, washed, and segregated into various categories and sizes and packed in poly bags.
  • These reconditioned clothes are then distributed to the needy people and organizations across various regions.
  • To give an underprivileged person a pair of clothes is as good as dressing him with self-respect. So we distribute usable garments to the poorest of the poor children.
  • BHF’s other projects such as Food, Mobility and Vocational Training. The concerned organization then submits signed certificate and a few photographs.

We provide books to help Children

  • We believe that education is every child’s right. If every child is educated then your country will be more powerful.
  • Education is the key to eliminating gender inequality, to creating a sustainable planet, to preventing needless deaths and illness and to forecasting a peace.
  • We help children reach school and stay there. Our charity trust helps children to unlock their potential realize their dreams.
  • We believe that every child is born with some extraordinary hidden talent if they provided with the right learning opportunities.
  • Efforts to achieve universal primary education in India over the last several decades have resulted in the proliferation of small government schools in isolated rural communities.
  • Our NGO provides children with access to primary schooling where the state has not been able to do so, or has done so poorly.

Giving healthy Food to Children

  • Food is the basic necessity of man. Food is a mixture of different nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals.
  • These nutrients are essential for growth, development and maintenance of good health throughout life.
  • Foods rich in protein are called body building foods. Milk, meat, egg and fish are rich in proteins of high quality due to the presence of all essential amino acids.
  • Pulses and nuts are good sources of protein but the protein is not of good quality because they lack some of the essential amino acids.
  • Nutrition is an important part of our life. The quality of our health depends upon the nourishment that we provide to our body.
  • BHF supplies these foods which helps to maintain life and promote growth. They also supply energy.

Overview Of an NGO

  • Poverty has remained a persistent and pressing issue in India from the time of independence through the decades that followed. Despite numerous policy interventions, a substantial section of the population has continued to live below the poverty line. In this context, the role of NGOs and charitable organizations has become especially vital. Their grassroots efforts often bridge the gap left by governmental schemes, delivering essential services and support to those most in need.
  • According to recent data, India has made notable progress in reducing poverty. The State Bank of India reported that by 2024, the national poverty rate had fallen below 5%, with rural poverty at 4.86% and urban poverty at 4.09%. This marks a significant improvement compared to previous years and reflects the impact of sustained policy efforts and welfare programs.
  • However, challenges persist. The World Bank’s April 2025 brief highlighted that while extreme poverty—defined as living on less than $2.15 per day—has dropped to 2.3%, the poverty rate at the $3.65 per day threshold remains high at 28.1%. This indicates that a large segment of the population continues to live just above the extreme poverty line and remains vulnerable to economic instability.
  • Programs such as the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) have played a crucial role in providing relief. Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, PMGKAY provided free food grains to over 813 million people, ensuring food security at a critical time. In addition, state-led initiatives like Uttar Pradesh’s “Zero Poverty” campaign have focused on identifying and supporting the poorest households through targeted assistance.
  • In conclusion, while India has made commendable strides in poverty reduction, sustained and corruption-free efforts—both by government bodies and civil society organizations—are essential to ensure inclusive growth and long-term change.
  • Recent studies underscore the pivotal role NGOs play in poverty reduction. For instance, a 2025 study by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, highlights that NGOs have been instrumental in providing basic services such as health check-ups, counseling, and vocational training, which are crucial for uplifting impoverished communities. These organizations act as developers, adopting and implementing programs that educate and train local populations, thereby enabling them to break free from the cycle of poverty. Furthermore, NGOs like Pratham have significantly contributed to improving education among underprivileged children through initiatives like the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) and the Read India program, reaching millions of children and enhancing literacy levels across several states.
